Here is how the mentored course is structured:
Each week you watch the videos for that week’s training and do the practice project. The lessons cover Nuke and high-level compositing concepts. You turn in your weekly project before the deadline. I review your project and produce a video based critique that you can watch on your own schedule to get feedback. All the students in your cohort will also have access to your critique. This helps people learn from even other people's mistakes and challenges similar to what would happen in a live classroom. In the critiques I often demonstrate techniques relevant to the specific challenges a student or students are having with the assignment. Sometimes it’s a technique shown in the videos, other times it might touch on fine points of the technique not mentioned in the videos. Learning to receive and respond to criticism is a critical soft skill you will need to succeed professionally so the sooner you can get comfortable with it the better. A day or two after the critiques are posted we meet for our live (virtual) Q&A session. During this “class time” you will have the opportunity to ask any questions the critique or the weeks lesson prompted. Class time is structured around the most recent lesson and the upcoming lesson. I use the meeting time to answer questions and do demonstrations to help flesh out the content of the video training. I’ll also answer general professional development questions.
There is also a weekly reading assignment that is highly recommended. It will take your technical understanding of compositing to a much higher level.
